In 2023, he participated as a speaker for youth-led politics at LCOY and received the best oral presentation award. In working with LCOY, he was selected to participate in Canada’s working paper to be presented at COY18 (Conference of Youth 18) and COP28 (Conference of Parties 28). Being involved with like-minded and passionate youth inspired Richard to take action. He founded his own climate-focused non-profit and applied to co-chair LCOY 2024. He hopes to bring another successful rendition of climate discussions to Canada. Outside of his passion for environmental policy, Richard enjoys singing opera, writing poetry, and organizing similar conferences.
LCOY 2024 provides a safe platform for youth across Canada to voice the sustainable future they envision!

Hello! My name is Eric Li and I am a freshman at Harvard seeking to concentrate in Government and obtain a citation in French.
I wholeheartedly believe that climate change is this planet’s most pressing concern, and I am immensely passionate about mitigating its effects. Climate change is not some intangible phenomenon that exclusively affects inanimate entities such as the ‘terrain’ or the ‘atmosphere’: it’ll decimate animal populations, our ecosystems, our food chains, and, eventually, us.
I am highly interested in regulatory policy, particularly its effectiveness relative to market-based instruments in the context of climate change mitigation, and the philosophy behind environmental legislation—how responsibility should be divided amongst polluting nations and corporations and what constitutes proportional punishment for them. In my spare time, I enjoy debating and making ceramics.
LCOY Canada’s success is dependant upon you. One additional participant is not insignificant—it means an additional voice advocating for tangible action and an additional heart and mind committed to saving communities across the globe.
Thank you for your time. I sincerely wish to see you at LCOY Canada.

Jacky Tang, a student at St. George’s School, is passionate about finding tangible and innovative ways to combat the effects of climate change. He has participated in the CTY Global Environment summer program and uses art to raise awareness of the impact of climate change. Seeing the detrimental effects of climate change on natural ecosystems, countries, and individuals sparked Jacky’s efforts to understand how humans can significantly alter the environment. He strongly believes that climate change is the most significant problem in the world, and he is deeply interested in how countries can maintain a strong economy while instilling policies to solve the current climate crisis. Other than his passion for understanding the environment, he loves competing in various golf tournaments, making 3D art designs, and following the stock market every day. Jacky hopes to create another successful LCOY, helping the world take another step towards a greener future.
